The start of a Pie Crust Crochet Obsession – part 3

I really do love collecting crochet stitch books and this is why. When a designer starts their design process you have to work through several stages before you can ever get to a finished product. Some of those critical decisions are……..

……Will your project require Yarn or Thread – and in what color. What Crochet hook size. AND of course what Stitch or Stitches do you want to use.

For the center, I looked at doing CLUSTERS, POPCORNS, PUFF STITCHES or BOBBLES. I decided to go with 5-Dc POPCORN stitch. I really liked how it POPPED (get it?!).

5-dc-Popcorn: Work 5 dc (double crochet) in stitch indicated. Drop hook from last dc made, insert hook front to back in the top of the first dc made, pick up working loop and draw through to close the popcorn. Normally you would use a sc to secure the stitch, in this pattern I am using 2 sc. Note, all popcorns will be gathered to pop on the front of the motif.

So, off I go to practice making the 5 Dc-Popcorn start of my motif. See you later!
